As well as the more obvious boating activities, SLYC now has an extremely active and enthusiastic band of swimmers, many of whom can be seen, and heard, swimming on most days of the year. The club has designated a slipway for swimming with a safety rope alongside, as well as changing facilities with showers to help warm up afterwards.
The Bathing Belles
The Bathing Belles are a group of SLYC lady members who have come together to share their love of sea swimming and camaraderie. To quote them: “Anyone in earshot knows we laugh a lot! And we have one honorary male member. Come and join us in the water and experience the exhilaration of the refreshing, beautiful Strangford Lough and who knows – you might laugh too and make life-long friends!”
