Powerboat Courses
SLYC runs a number of RYA Powerboat Courses throughout the year. Please find below information on each of the different courses, including dates and links to booking forms.
RYA Powerboat Level 1 – Start Powerboating
The Powerboat Level 1 Starting Powerboating Course is a one course for children aged 8-12. The aim is to teach basic boat safety and handling techniques, as well as basic theory. Upon gaining this qualification, the candidate will have a basic understanding of powerboating.

RYA Powerboat Level 2 – Powerboat Handling
The Powerboat Level 2 Powerboat Handling course is a two day course for those aged 12 and upwards. This is one of the RYA’s most popular courses, teaching boat handling, planning speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations. This is highly recommended to anyone who owns a boat themselves.

RYA Safety Boat
The Safety Boat course is a two day course for those who already have their Powerboat Level 2 qualification. This course is designed for those interested in providing safety cover in a racing or training environment. Teaching focuses on recovery techniques for various craft and fleet management.
