Youth Sailing Courses
The RYA Youth Sailing Programme is one of the most popular programmes that SLYC runs. The programme consists of four stages, each stage builds upon knowledge and ability to produce an individual that will be able to sail a dinghy by themselves confidently in moderate conditions.
These week long courses are run throughout the summer period for children aged 7-15, by qualified RYA Instructors. The course is run Monday – Friday, 10:00 till 16:30 each day, so please ensure you have a packed lunch.
Upon achieving RYA Youth Level 4, students can go on to do RYA Advanced Courses, such as Start Racing, Sailing with Spinnakers & Day Sailing. More information on these courses can be found on the Advanced Sailing tab.
Please note that due to COVID-19 guidelines, all course participants must be at least RYA Level 3 or capable of sailing a topper independently.
The Senior Instructor on the course has the discretion to not allow students on the course if their sailing ability isn’t of a high enough standard.

Please note, children’s ability will be assessed by the Senior Instructor during the course, progression to the next stage of the programme will be given once they are happy with the competence and ability of the sailor.
