The season is well underway and already there has been a lot of activity at the club. Junior Sailing is attracting upwards of 80 children and our “Push the Boat Out” day in May brought in around 70 new people, giving them the opportunity to try out sailing. Many of these people have also taken part in our “Women on Water” and “Crews” programmes, which have been running in recent weeks. The club has also hosted two major championships, so all in all it has been a busy time. Very many thanks go to all of the volunteers who make these things work so well.
Plans are underway for our regatta day on Saturday 11th August. I hope that you will be able to come and join the festivities at the club. The Sailing Instructions are already posted, with the first start at 2.00 p.m. After racing, at about 4.00 p.m., our traditional regatta tea with prize giving will take place, hopefully outside. There will be a bar outside as well and following the prize giving there will be music, dancing and food.
Please join us on the day and encourage your friends and family to come along, even if you just want to come for the afternoon tea. Everybody will be very welcome. For those coming by boat, there are a number of visitors’ and other moorings which can be used and a ferry service to and from the pontoon will be operating throughout the evening.
For those of you who would like to volunteer to help out on regatta day, please get in contact with Elaine at the office. There are plenty of things to do!
